The Salem Chamber of Commerce, Salem Main Streets and the City of Salem Renewable Energy Task Force will host the Living Green & Renewable Energy Fair on June 14, 2008. The fair will take place in and around Old Town Hall at Derby Square in downtown Salem.
The organizers would like to invite businesses and organizations that promote green / renewable products and services to participate in the fair. The goal is to promote products, services and information that encourage healthier, more sustainable consumption and lifestyles for businesses and families. There is limited space for exhibitors at this event. The costs to exhibit are: $100 for Salem Chamber Members, $150 for Non-Members, $50 for Salem Chamber Non-Profit Organizations and $75 for Non-Member Non-Profit Organizations. The organizers will review all applications. For more information, or to request an application, please email Ben Bouchard: ben@salem-chamber.org
The fair will feature numerous exhibits from local, regional and national companies, a series of green talks by environmental leaders and organizations, family entertainment and a full-length, eco-themed movie at Cinema Salem. The fair will cover renewable energy, transportation, building and remodeling, lawn and garden, organic food and locally grown produce, household products and much more.
In recognition of the fair, the City of Salem will celebrate June 14th as Clean Energy Day, and all Salem citizens are encouraged to sign up for Clean Energy Choice, a Massachusetts Technology Collaborative program (MTC). Clean Energy Choice allows National Grid customers to offset the production of electricity generated from fossil fuels, and replace it with clean, renewable energy. It will cost the average customer approximately 14 dollars extra a month, but for every dollar paid, up to 2/3 will be matched by MTC and invested right back into clean energy programs in Salem.
