The Recycling Task Force initial Strategic Plan, March 2008
Currently, the recycling committee is working on a strategic plan, including a mission statement and stakeholders. Once finalized; it will be posted on the City website.
Currently the draft plan includes:
* Providing a baseline assessment of current recycling
* Researching and capturing the ‘best practices’ of other communities
* Develop an education plan for each category of stakeholders
* Developing a brand and marketing plan for the activities of the task force
* Partnering with other Salem city government entities to promote “green” activities.
Among the most important objectives of the task force are increasing recycling awareness, education, and improved recycling rates. The committee is considering a recycling competition to help promote this awareness.
The Recycling Task Force will participate in two upcoming City-wide events:
Earth Day celebration, Carlton School, 6-8:30 on Thursday April 17
Living Green & Renewable Energy Fair, Old Town Hall, 10 am - 3 pm, Saturday June 14
Regularly scheduled meetings are held the first Tuesday of each month; on the 3rd floor of 120 Washington Street at 7 pm.
