MINUTES APRIL 26, 2006 SPECIAL MEETING

        A Special Meeting of the City Council was held in the Council Chamber on
Wednesday, April 26, 2006 at 6:30 P.M. for the purpose of filling a vacancy in the office of Councillor-At-Large, caused by the resignation of Councillor Michael Bencal.  Notice of
this meeting was posted on April 21, 2006 at 11:02 A.M.


        All Councillors were present

        
Council President Jean Pelletier presided.


Councillor O’Leary moved to dispense with the reading of the record of the previous meeting. It was so voted.


        The following letters of intent were submitted by Noon on April 21st, 2006:

1.      Michael D. Allen
2.      Mark E. Blair
3.      Steven G. Dibble
4.      Robert A. Dionne
5.      Robert K. McCarthy
6.      Steven A. Pinto
7.      Douglas P. Sabin
8.      Kenneth Sawicki
9.      Lorelee Stewart
10.     David B. Summer
11.     James R. Willis, Jr.



Council President Pelletier stated that Council will have no discussion. Candidates will be allowed to make a short presentation to the Council. Each Candidate starting in alphabetical order spoke. Mr. Michael D. Allen withdrew from the nominations.








Council President Pelletier ruled that six (6) votes would be required to be elected.
The nomination were closed. It was so voted.



Ballot #1

Voting for Mark E. Blair were Councillors Corchado, Lovely, O’Leary, Sargent, Sosnowski, Veno and Pelletier. 7 Votes.

        
        Voting for  Steven G. Dibble were Councillors O’Keefe and Prevey. 2 Votes.

        Voting for James R. Willis, Jr. was Councillor Furey. 1 Vote.


        Council President Pelletier declared Mark E. Blair elected Councillor-At-Large.

        Councillor O’Leary moved immediate reconsideration in the hopes it would not prevail. Reconsideration was denied.

        Councillor Lovely requested and received unanimous consent to suspend the rules to allow Mark E. Blair to speak.

        City Clerk Cheryl A. LaPointe administered the Oath of Office to Councillor-At-Large Elect Mark E. Blair.


        


On the motion of Councillor O’Keefe the meeting adjourned at  7:30 P.M.
