City Creates “New Resident Tool Kit”

SALEM, MA – The City has created a “New Resident Tool Kit’ to welcome new residents to the City and also educate them on pertinent City rules and regulations.

Included in the “tool kit” is information on voter registration and polling locations, public schools, parks/playgrounds and contact information for city departments and elected officials.  In addition, information is included on the City’s rules and regulations about trash/recycling pick-up, snow emergencies and neighborhood street sweeping, among other things.

“When you move somewhere new, it’s nice to have a resource at your fingertips that not only provides information about the City but also welcomes you,” stated Mayor Kimberley Driscoll.  “This is especially important given that some areas of Salem are home to transient populations.”

This resource will be available through the City’s website at www.salem.com and will be distributed to newly registered voters by the City Clerk’s Office.
