Salem is recognized for budgeting excellence
SALEM – Mayor Kimberley Driscoll is pleased to announce that the City of Salem was awarded the Certificate of Achievement for Excellence in Financial Reporting by the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. The award will go to Finance Director Richard Viscay, who is responsible for preparing the City’s comprehensive annual financial report. This is the fifth consecutive year the City has been recognized for its financial reporting.
The Certificate of Achievement is the highest form of recognition in the area of governmental accounting and financial reporting and its attainment represents a significant accomplishment by a government and its management.
“I’m very proud of Richard Viscay and the City for earning this great honor,” said Mayor Driscoll. “Since being elected, I have worked to make the City of Salem open and transparent and receiving the Certificate of Achievement from the Government Finance Officers Association shows that we are well on our way.”
An impartial panel judged Salem’s comprehensive annual financial report on whether it demonstrated a constructive “spirit of full disclosure” to clearly communicate its financial story and motivate interested parties to read it.
