BUILDING CODE CHANGES
The New 8th Edition to the Massachusetts Building Code becomes effective on February 6, 2011
Until then the 7th and 8th Editions run concurrently. This code is for buildings other than One and Two Family Dwellings.
The 7th Edition Building Code for 1 and 2 Family Dwellings is still in effect
The 8th Edition is the International Building Code 2009 with Massachusetts ammendments. The Massachusetts ammendments are available from the State House Bookstore and can also be viewed at:

STRETCH ENERGY CODE
The City of Salem has adopted the Stretch Energy Code effective January 1, 2011. The Stretch Code is an ammendment to the Building Code which requires addtional insulation, third party testing of building envelope and other energy saving measures.
