SPACE Salem Play Area for Canine Exercise
A group of dog owners in Salem organized the group called SPACE to create a dog park in Salem. The group has been meeting for 3 years and has conducted some fundraisers to offset costs so no funding will come from the taxpayers in Salem. The dog park located at Leslieís Retreat Park on the North River. Pooch Pass for Dog Park
You now need the Pooch Pass in order to use the park. You can purchase them at the Council on Aging building located at 5 Broad St. Salem. Hours of operation of the COA is 8 AM - 4 PM Monday - Friday and it's open until 7:00 PM on Thursdays. In order to purchase the Pass you need to have proof of spay/neuter, proof of rabies/distemper vaccination and proof that your dog is registered in whatever town you live in. The cost of the Pass is $25 for the year and every penny goes right back into the park. The Salem Animal Control Officer and the Salem Police will be randomly patrolling the park. If you are found using the park without a pass beginning on June 1, 2008 you will be fined $25. Each subsequent offence is $50.
