The City of Salem owns a Transfer Station located on Swampscott Road. It first opened in 1963. Since 1994, Northside Carting has leased the Transfer Station from the City and has since operated and managed the area. In February of 2007, the City solicited proposals for the sites reuse and Northside Carting was selected in April.
The above links provide information about Northside Carting's proposed reuse for the site. As the project moves forward, this page will be periodically updated with new information. Some of the links are quite large so the documents may take a few minutes to download. If you experience any problems in the downloading process, contact the Mayor's Office for a hard copy version at 978-619-5600.
