priority spending plan.
Mr. Bryant expressed his concern about the substitute nursing pay issue and suggested that the School Committee should consider funding an increase with the SFSF money. b. Deliberation on the appointment of Assistant Superintendent
Dr. Cameron addressed the School Committee and recommended that Dr. Steven G. O’Brien be appointed as the Assistant Superintendent of the Salem Public Schools effective July 1, 2010. Dr. Cameron noted that Mr. O’Brien will replace Dr. Alyce Davis who is retiring in August. He explained that he is recommending a start date of July 1st because an overlap would be greatly beneficial. He also recommended a three year contract at a salary of $110,000 per year.
Dr. Cameron noted that Dr. O’Brien was a strong finalist who stood out with experience and a broad and deep knowledge of curriculum and development. He also noted that he has had the advantage of working with him in Pittsfield and he is an accomplished administrator.
