In late 2009 the city of Salem participated in a WaterSense Fix a Leak competition. The competition winner would partner with the EPA during the week of March 15 to promote a Fix a Leak event. Salem was a national finalist and the local EPA office partnered with the city to promote a poster competition hosted by the House of the Seven Gables Settlement House.
