Water/Sewer FAQ's
Question: How can I make changes to the information on my water/sewer bill?

Answer: Contact the Water Department directly by calling 978-619-5675, fax the information to 978-745-0349 -Attention Water Department, or used the attached form and email the information to jrose@salem.com.  Please note that you must contact the Water Department directly for final readings, you cannot use this form.  

Q: What should I do if my water is brown?  

A:  Run your cold water until the water is clear.  

Q:  Does the City of Salem allow payment plans for their water/sewer bills?  

A:  No.

Q: How do I purchase new meters?  

A:  Contact the Water Department.

Q:  How may I obtain a rain barrel?

A:  Contact the Department of Public Works, located at 5 Jefferson Avenue.  They may be reached at 978-744-3302.  As of November, 2008, the cost of a rain barrel is $70.00.  Checks may be made payable to the City of Salem.  

Q:  Why didn't I get my discount?

A:  In order to take advantage of the 10% water discount for residential accounts, the City Collector's Office must receive payment before the date noted on the bill.
