• Update on Canal St. Off-Road Path – As part of the larger Canal St. roadway reconstruction project, the contractor has begun clearing and grading the area behind Domino’s pizza, which will be the Downtown start of the path. Construction will continue through the Fall and this section of the path is estimate to be completed by Spring 2017. The second phase down to Gardner Mattress is still under design review and funding options are being explored by the Mayor’s office, Engineering Dept, and Planning Dept.
• Salem Bicycle Share Proposal – The City is exploring options to upgrade the existing Salem Spins program to a more automated, bike-share style model similar to Boston’s Hubway bike share system. City is currently develop an Request for Proposals to properly bid the program.
• Bicycle Master Plan Update Discussion – CIP Engineering money was allocated to update the Master Plan. Discussion of bringing on a consultant and holding a public meeting for public input.
• Project Tracking Form – Go over a new project tracking form for the Committee so we can keep track of projects. Form will be shared with Committee members online and also available online to update/comment on.
