  1. Project Tracking Form – Review project tracking form and review additions and comments on tracking form tasks.

 

 

  1. New/Old Business 

 

 

  • Essex St Road Reconstruction – Engineering has received plans for the street reconstruction of the Essex St. one-way. Because of proposed Complete Streets accommodations. Engineering has asked the Committee to comment on the plans.

 

  • Lafayette/Loring/West Intersection Design – Stantec has been working with the City to design the improvements to the Lafayette/Loring intersection. Plans of the improvements will be shared. Engineering has identified this project as the first priority on the priority list of projects for MassDOT Complete Streets funding.

 

  • Canal Street Roadway Project Update – Updates for the Canal Street roadway project will be shared with the Committee. Focus will be on the status of the off-road path progress and funding status of Phase 2 of the path.

 

  • Complete Streets Prioritization – MassDOT will be accepting applications for another round of Complete Streets funding projects. Projects must be designed in order for the funding to pay for construction. Engineering, Parking and Traffic, and Planning are working on developing that priority list. The preliminary list will be shared and discussed for edits and additions.

 

  • Salem Bicycle Share RFP Update – The City has selected Zagster as the vendor to implement a new full service bike share in Salem. The funding allocation was referred by City Council to the Finance Committee and they met on January 5th where the Mayor and Zagster both spoke to the benefits of the program. The issue has been held in Committee until the next meeting on the 26th and in the meantime, the City is working with Zagster to iron out the draft contract agreement to include provisions asked for by the Councilors. A more detailed update of timeline and next steps will be given.

 

  • Bicycle Master Plan Update Discussion – CIP Engineering money was allocated to update the Master Plan. With comments from Parking and Traffic Director, Engineering, and the Planning Department, as well as input from the Bike Advisory Committee, the RFP is planned to be released the first week of February. Discussion of consulting firms to solicit responses will take place.
