  • Dave Knowlton, City Engineer Update on Bicycle Infrastructure – Dave Knowlton will inform the Committee on the status of the Canal St off-road path, potential pilot protected lane projects, and answer any questions about bicycle infrastructure projects.
  • Canal St. Multi-Use Path Project/Street Reconstruction – The City is working with MassDOT to secure funding for the Southern missing portion of the Canal St off-road path that will not be built as part of the Canal St road reconstruction that recently went out to bid. However, City Engineer Dave Knowlton is optimistic that it will be funded in fiscal year 2017. Potential update from City Engineering.
  • Lafayette St. Pilot Protected Lane  - City Council has approved a Capital Improvement Project funding request of $40,000 to go to a Lafayette St protected bike lane pilot project. The newly configured street will use paint and temporary planters or plastic bollards to put a protected bicycle lane between the curb and parking on Lafayette St going South towards SSU. This project will be implemented in Spring or Early Summer 2016. The City Engineering and Planning Dept. will be coordinating with MassInMotion and MAPC to fully execute project including public outreach, meetings, and project implementation.
