Adopt a Beach training

Event Date:
Wednesday, May 10, 2017 - 7:00pm to 8:30pm

Salem Sound Coastwatch is looking for volunteers to adopt their favorite beaches, including beaches in Lynn, Nahant, Swampscott, Marblehead, Salem, Danvers, Beverly, and Manchester-by-the-Sea. Adopt a Beach volunteers serve as year-round "beachkeepers," monitoring and cleaning up their adopted beaches. Beachkeepers operate independently and on their own schedules.

Adopt a Beach training (or "Beaches 101") includes topics on beach ecology, marine debris and other sources of pollution, identifying storm damage and invasive species, and more. These sessions are open to prospective volunteers and to anyone interested in learning more about the science behind beaches.

The next Beaches 101 will be on Wednesday, May 10 from 7 to 8:30pm at 12 Federal Street in Salem.

RSVP is requested. For more information on the Adopt a Beach program, visit www.salemsound.org, call 978-741-7900, or email info@salemsound.org.
