Each fall, Massachusetts Coastal Zone Management coordinates COASTSWEEP, statewide coastal cleanups held in conjunction with the Ocean Conservancy's International Coastal Cleanup program. Join Salem Sound Coastwatch for area cleanups.
Everything we pick up will be recorded. The data will be used to identify the most prevalent sources of marine debris and develop education and policy initiatives to help reduce it. Last year almost 800,000 volunteers participated in these cleanups worldwide.
The Thursday, September 21 COASTSWEEP will be at Palmer Cove in Salem from 3:15pm.
Gloves and bags will be provided. RSVP is requested.
