The Massachusetts National Guard and the Second Corps Cadets will be celebrating the 379th anniversary of the first military muster to be held in America.  Veterans and militia groups are encouraged to join in the celebration.

0900 Hrs.  Second Corps Cadets and Second Corps Cadets Veterans Association form in front of St. Peter’s church.  Father Ramero will address the formation.

0910 Hrs.  Glovers Regiment will honor General Glover at his birthplace (about 200 feet from the front of St. Peter’s church)

0920 Hrs.  The Second Corps and Second Corps Veterans Association commanders will honor its founder, Captain Stephen Abbot, by placing a wreath at his gravesite in front of St. Peter’s church. Then immediately head into the church for short talks on the history of the area, Stephen Abbott and the Second Corps.

0950 Hrs.  Form up in front of the church to march to Armory Park for a memorial to North Shore veterans lost in the Revolutionary War.

1030 Hrs.  March to the Salem common to celebrate the First Muster with dignitaries and units who are the decedents of the first four units mustered on the common.  The muster will conclude with a pass-in-review.

Following the Muster guests are invited to join the unit for a collation at the K Of C hall on the edge of Salem Common.
