Age-Friendly Salem

Listening Sessions: April 19, 2pm and 6pm,120 Washington Street in Salem

Age-Friendly Salem

A new initiative by the City of Salem

Read the draft report: Age-Friendly Salem

"An Age-Friendly city helps people of all ages participate in community activities and treats everyone with respect, regardless of their age. An Age-Friendly city welcomes everyone and adapts its structures and services to be accessible to all, including older people with varying needs and capacities. An Age-Friendly city encourages active aging by optimizing opportunities for good health and social interaction in order to add life to years. This is a vital part of Salem’s future.”  -Mayor Kimberley Driscoll

YOU are invited to a conversation about how to make our City more age-friendly. We will have two listening sessions on April 19.  Please to come to the one of your choice - and feel free to bring others.

What:  Listening sessions on Age-Friendly Salem

When:  April 19, 2016

First Session:  2:00 p.m. to 3:30 p.m.

Second Session: 6:00 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

Where: 120 Washington Street, 3rd floor conference room

Join us for a conversation on the four topic areas explored in the draft report: housing, communication, outdoor spaces and public buildings, and transportation.

How can Salem include you more fully in the social and cultural life of the community and create more opportunities for connections within our city? To what extent are these four areas being satisfactorily met for Salem’s senior residents and where are there opportunities for improvement?

All are welcome. For further information, please contact Jason Silva at jsilva@salem.com
