Salem, MA – The City of Salem is seeking community members to participate in the School Building Committee (SBC) for the proposed new building project at the current Salem High School site. The SBC will oversee the project and ensure compliance with the Massachusetts School Building Authority (MSBA)'s regulations.

The School Building Committee (SBC) plays a pivotal role in monitoring and advising the mayor during the application process and construction of the approved project, in accordance with the MSBA's guidelines. The committee will collaborate with consultants to develop necessary plans and authorize the Owner's Project Manager (OPM) to submit those plans to the MSBA for approval. While other elements of the project, such as the educational program, are determined by Salem educators in consultation with this committee and the School Committee.

Members of the School Building Committee will meet approximately once a month throughout the duration of the project. The city is actively seeking individuals with diverse backgrounds in education, finance/accounting, construction/contracting, building design, and community organizing to contribute their expertise to the committee.
