Forest River Trail Closing for Upgrades
The City of Salem, in partnership with Salem State University and the Massachusetts Division of Conservation & Recreation’s Recreational Trails Program, is currently upgrading the main trunk trail through the Forest River Conservation Area. These upgrades, extending from the trailhead at Salem State University’s South Campus to the main footbridge over the Forest River, include drainage, grading, and surface improvements to stabilize the trail and increase its accessibility to people of all abilities.
The trail will be closed through the duration of the work, which is anticipated to be completed by late September. We apologize for the inconvenience while these exciting improvements are made.
