Fished Impressions is headed by Joe Higgins, who sells and makes Gyotaku (gee-yo-tah’-koo) which is a Japanese art form traditionally used by fishermen, Japanese nobility, and artists to record the details of the fish they catch. Gyotaku means fish rubbing. The Gyotaku technique uses an actual fish to print an impression onto paper, fabric, or other mediums. This ancient technique is fascinating and the end result is a remarkably original, quality work of art! Free
workshops teaching this ancient and fascinating art form are offered to children throughout the season. All fish used will be cleaned, prepared, and eaten after use off site. Fished Impressions also sells other homemade nautical inspired art, for more information go to www.fishedimpressions.com
