BRIDGE STREET NECK NEIGHBORHOOD MASTER PLAN/REVITALIZATION STUDY COMPLETE

A team of consultants lead by the Cecil Group has completed a revitalization plan for the Bridge Street Neck neighborhood. The final report, issued as a result of an eight-month-long community planning effort, is available below.

The Cecil Group was guided by the Bridge Street Neck Working Group, which was convened early this year by Mayor Kimberley Driscoll to focus on revitalizing the area. Specific goals of the planning process have included strategies for the redevelopment of foreclosed and abandoned properties, strengthening of local businesses and other economic development goals, and recommendations for infrastructure and amenity improvements. The project was funded by a $75,000 Gateway Plus Action Grant that the City received from the Massachusetts Department of Community Development.

Three public meetings were held, including a planning charrette, to generate ideas and share concepts for a variety of housing, commercial and neighborhood improvements. Between 40 and 100 people attended each meeting, providing direct community input into the plan recommendations. The draft and final reports, as well as presentations and notes from the public meetings are available below.
