CorriganCorporal Henry J. Corrigan, a native of 22 Varney Street, served in the US Army during World War I. He was born July 24th, 1892 in Salem. Prior to serving, he worked as a shoemaker. Corporal Corrigan initially enlisted on October 4th, 1917 to the 151st Depot Brigade. He was later transferred on November 11th, 1917 to Company K, 328th Infantry, 82nd Division. He arrived overseas on May 1st, 1918 and promoted to Corporal on June 7th, 1918.

Tragically, he was killed in action near St. Mihiel, France on September 15th, 1918. He was the son of John and Barbara (Boyle) Corrigan and brother to Alice, Kathryn, John, James, and Dean.

His square is located at the intersection of Bridge, Boston, Proctor and Goodhue Streets, dedicated in his honor.
