DooleyJoseph J. Dooley served as a Cook in the Massachusetts National Guard during World War I. He initially enlisted on July 10th, 1917 and was later assigned to Battery D of the 101st Field Artillery. After almost two years of service, he was dischared on April 29th, 1919. He lived in Salem until his death on November 18th, 1937. He was the brother of Catherine Callahan, Mary Maynard, and Maurice Dooley. His square was dedicated in his honor on October 31st, 1938 and is located at the corner of Essex and Summer Streets.
