Jordan Square

Chauffeur First Class Marcus A. Jordan, a native of 79 Flint Street, served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on May 16th, 1891 in Danvers. Chauffeur First Class Jordan initially enlisted on December 12th, 1917 was assigned to the 178th Aero Squadron. He later transferred on March 12th, 1918 to 180th Aero Squadron at Kelly Field, Texas. He was promoted to Corporal on March 1st, 1918 and Chauffeur First Class on July 1st, 1918.

Tragically, he died of disease on October 2nd, 1918. He was the son of Michael and Barbara (Carney) Jordan, brother to William and Mrs. Roy Connors, and husband to Mary P. Hennessey.

His square is located at the intersection of Flint Street and the Railroad Crossing, dedicated in his honor.
