LarrabeeFirst Lieutenant Edward A. Larrabee, a native of 114 Derby Street, served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on July 19th, 1889. Prior to serving, he worked as an Assistant in Botany at the Massachusetts Agricultural Experiment Station. First Lieutenant Larrabee enlisted in January of 1918. He sailed to France the following April, and was commissioned a First Lieutenant in October of 1918, assigned to the 9th Infantry Regiment.

Tragically, he was injured on November 2, 1918 by a high explosive shell and died at Base Hospital No. 115, Vichy, France on December 7, 1918.

His square is located at the corner of North and Symonds Streets, dedicated in his honor.
