      Remi J. Levesque

Private Levesque SquareRemi J. Levesque served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on March, 17th, 1888 in St. Antoine, Quebec. Prior to serving, he lived in Massachusetts for 25 years, resided on 286 Washington Street, and worked as a blacksmith.

Private Levesque initially enlisted on April 28th, 1918 to the 151st Depot Brigade. He was later transferred on July 2nd, 1918 to Company E, 303rd Infantry, 76th Division; August 2nd, 1918 to Company I, 162nd Infantry, 41st Division; and September 4th, 1918 to Company B, 128th Infantry, 32nd Division. He arrived in the theatre of war on July 7th, 1918.

Tragically, he was killed in action near Romagne, France on October 14th, 1918. He was the son of Louis and Justine (Gagnon) Levesque and brother to Claudia, Virginia, Marie, and Exilda. His square is located at the corner of Derby and Lafayette Streets, dedicated in his honor.
