Corporal Norman A. Little served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on January 12th, 1899 in Melrose. Prior to his military service, he worked as an Electrician’s apprentice in Lynn. Corporal Little initially enlisted on October 21st, 1917 to Company E, 30th Infantry, 3rd Division. He was promoted to Corporal on December 4th, 1917. He was later transferred on December 19th, 1917 to Company Headquarters, 30th Infantry, 3rd Division. He arrived overseas on April 2nd, 1918.

Tragically, he was killed in action on July 15th, 1918 near Mezy-Sur-Seine, France. He was the son of Albert and Clara (Lenners) Little, and brother to Emilie and Robert of Salem, and Mrs. Clara V. Jenness of Rochester, New Hampshire.

His square is located at the corner of Margin and Summer Streets, dedicated in his honor.
