The City of Salem has received its preliminary certification from the Department of Revenue for the proposed FY2021 assessments. Proposed assessments are currently available for review ONLINE at http://salem.patriotproperties.com/default.asp?br=exp&vr=6 and in our office at 93 Washington Street.
Assessments will be available for review from Tuesday, November 3 through Monday, November 9, 2020. This process provides the opportunity for taxpayers to review the proposed values which will be printed on the third quarter actual tax bills that are mailed in December.
The FY2021 proposed assessments are based primarily on calendar 2019 market sales and reflect the value as of January 2, 2020. A thorough analysis was conducted in accordance with the Department of Revenue’s “Guidelines for Development of a minimum Reassessment Program”. As a result, the aggregate assessed value of the community realized an increase of approximately 7.25%.
Taxpayers may contact the Assessor’s Office with questions or additional information regarding their proposed assessed values preferably by EMAIL: firstname.lastname@example.org, by phone 978-619-5608 or in our office during business hours.
During the public disclosure period, taxpayers may view their assessments for value, property data and ownership. Discrepancies should be noted using the FY2021 Public Disclosure Form. Please complete and submit to the Assessor’s office via EMAIL or deliver to the Assessor’s office at 93 Washington Street by November 9, 2020.
Corrections to parcel data may be made during the public disclosure period if approved by the Board of Assessors. After that time, values will be finalized and submitted to the Department of Revenue for final certification.
