Derby Street Roadway Improvement Project - Phase 1

Project Summary

The work consists of demolition of the existing sidewalk surfaces, removal and resetting of existing granite curbing the installation of drainage in the street, installation of conduit in the sidewalk areas for lighting and fire alarm systems, and then placement of new sidewalk surfaces.

Project limits of Hardy St to Blaney St have been extended up to Webb Street as the following:

From Blaney St to Becket Ave - odd and even sidewalk repairs with new accessible crosswalk at Becket Ave

From Becket Ave to Webb St - even sidewalk repairs with new accessible crosswalk at Webb St

Work will be done with multiple crews, one side at a time, starting on the odd side of Derby Street at Hardy Street and progressing to Becket Street. Once the odd side in completed, LEC will return to Hardy Street and begin work on the even side of the street.

Weather permitting, we expect this work to be complete by October 1, 2020. Police Details will be on-site to facilitate pedestrian and vehicular traffic flow on Derby Street around the work zones; however, when work is being performed it is likely that through traffic will be detoured. Abutters should have access to their driveways after hours, unless notified otherwise by the City. On the days when LEC is working, it is important not to have cars parked in the roadway. No parking signs will be installed.
