 How do I join the Senior Center?

Stop by or call the Center at 978.744.0924 and make an appointment for a tour of the facility. If you register you will be issued a card. Tours of the center are available during the hours of 8:30 am to 4:00 pm, Monday through Friday.

How old does one have to be to join the Counil on Aging

You must be 60 years old to participate at the center, or 55+ and disabled.

Is there a cost for membership?

There is no cost to attend the Center. However, if we pay an instructor to teach a class, there may be a fee to participate in wellness, dance and exercise classes.

How do I receive the newsletter?

You can subscribe to the "Senior Power" for FREE to order, contact Rosanna Donahue at 978.744.0924.

How do i sign Up for a ride?

Call the Center at 978.744.0924, ext 43008, and speak to our Transportation Coordinator for information about our transportation services.

What are Social Services?

The Social Services Team is available to assist seniors with any concerns. The staff makes home visits and provides information and referral. Staff are trained to inform seniors of the programs and services available to them through the Council on Aging and other elder services, public benefits and service agencies. For more information on the resources available through the Social Department, call the Center at 978.744.0924 and ask to speak with a social worker.

Does the Salem Council on Aging serve meals?

The Center’s lunch site serves those, who are age 60 and over, Mondays through Fridays. 

Lunch is served at 11:30 am. A two day-notice is required and a $2.00 suggested donation is requested. The menu is listed in the Council on Aging’s newsletter. For more information or to make a reservation, call Rosanna Donahue  978.744.0924 x 43006.

What are the major benefits of participation in the Center?  Salem senior residents

. May utilize the free van transportation services described below.

· May participate in activities and services on a priority basis ahead of residents of other towns.

· Will receive the free monthly newsletter " Senior Power" which lists classes, activities, services, etc.

How do I join the Salem Council on Aging?    If you are a resident of Salem and at least 60 years old, you are automatically eligible to participate in all offered activities and services.  There is no membership fee. Stop by the Center to receive a welcome package and to fill out a contact information form. This will ensure that you receive by mail our free, "Senior Power" monthly newsletter that contains information on all of our activities and services. Or you can, also stop by the front desk at the Center to pick up the newsletter if you would prefer.
