Reminder from Salem Fire Department: Prohibition on Open Burning

fire

With the warmer weather approaching and everyone heading outside to enjoy their yards and outdoor spaces, the Salem Fire Department would like to remind residents that it is a violation of both Commonwealth of Massachusetts law and the City of Salem's ordinances to have open burning with solid fuel within the City of Salem. This includes outdoor patio or space heaters, decorative heating appliances such as chiminea, fire pits, or outdoor fireplaces using solid fuel including charcoal, wood, fuel pellets, or any non-gaseous fuel. Please help keep Salem and your neighborhood safe!

If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the Salem Fire Prevention office at (978) 745-7777.
