The City’s compost drop-off station at Mack Park has reopened to the public. This station is for residents to drop off their food scraps and compostable kitchen waste only. Do not drop off yard waste here– yard waste should be dropped off at the Transfer Station at 12 Swampscott Road on Saturdays from 7am-3pm and Sundays from 9am-5pm or placed curbside during collection weeks (click here for a schedule).

The Mack Park Compost Drop-Off Station is secured, and residents must register in order to use it. There is no charge to use the station.  Click this link to register. You will be able to review a list of acceptable material to drop off at the station and asked a few questions in order to receive the code to unlock the compost drop-off bin.

Please consider others while using this shared station. Wash your hands or use hand sanitizer before and after unlocking the bins and refrain from using the bins if you feel sick. If someone else is dropping off their compost, please wait until they are done and follow physical distancing guidelines.

The drop off station is open 24 hours a day, seven days a week so residents can drop off their compost at a time that is convenient for them.
