Yard Waste Drop-Off Ends at Salem Transfer Station after December 17

Swampscott Road facility open Saturday 7am-3pm, Sunday 9am-5pm for two more weekends

Salem residents with proof of residency or property ownership will be able to continue dropping off their yard waste at the Salem Transfer Station on Swampscott Road on weekends through Sunday December 17. Drop off hours are Saturdays from 7:00 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., and Sundays from 9:00 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Yard waste should be dropped off in a paper yard waste bag or dumped loose at the designated area on the site. Yard waste in plastic bags will not be accepted and stumps and branches greater than 2” in diameter will also not be accepted.

The next curbside yard waste collection will take place the week of April 23, 2018. Residential trash and construction and demolition debris will not be accepted at the Transfer Station at this time. Residents who need to dispose of residential trash in excess of that which fits within an approved curbside trash cart may purchase official overflow trash bags for curbside collection. Overflow bags are available for $2.50 each at the Department of Public Services (5 Jefferson Avenue), the City Collector’s Office (93 Washington Street), Crosby’s Marketplace (109 Canal Street), and Winer Brothers Hardware (86 Lafayette Street). Discounted overflow bags, at $1 each, are available at the Collector’s Office from December 18 through January 8.
