Mayor Kim Driscoll and the Public Art Commission are pleased to announce the launch of the Artist in Residence Pilot Program at Artists’ Row with Claudia Paraschiv, architect and owner of Studioful - Architecture, Community Art, and Neighborhood Design, and founder of Salem Public Space Project.

The Artist in Residence Pilot Program seeks to bring the Salem community into the creative process through participatory project-based activities for all ages at Artists’ Row. Of particular interest are placemaking programs that help residents and visitors re-imagine public spaces as places to play, engage, and create. Placemaking inspires people to collectively reimagine and reinvent public spaces as the heart of every community, strengthening the connection between people and the places they share.

The Public Art Commission and Ms. Paraschiv welcome the community to participate in creative placemaking through the Artist in Residence Program, project-based, art making workshops outside on the Row will engage the community to participate in a variety of ways. The collaborative creation of a Community Table for people and pollinators will serve as the primary project to engage people in making art and making friends. The Artist in Residence Program will run on Thursdays in July and August, 3-7pm, during the Farmers’ Market as a way to help establish Artists’ Row as a local destination by adding more art and activity to the Row.
