Holiday Parking

*NOTE: All parking holidays are subject to change. Call the Traffic and Parking Department at (978) 745-8120 or check the Traffic & Parking Department Twitter account if you have any questions or concerns.*

On certain state and federal holidays, parking at some or all City-owned lots, garages, and meters is free of charge. Additionally, the Mayor and City Council may authorize other free parking days on or near these holidays. **Note that this is not applicable to the MBTA Commuter Rail Station Garage.**

Always check signs, the Passport Parking App, parking kiosks, and the Traffic and Parking Department’s Twitter account for current information.

On the following holidays, parking is free at all garages, lots, and on-street meters:

  • President’s Day
  • Patriots' Day
  • Memorial Day
  • Juneteenth
  • Labor Day
  • Veterans Day
  • Thanksgiving
  • Day After Thanksgiving
  • Christmas Eve Day
  • Christmas Day
  • New Year’s Day

On the following holidays, parking is free at all lots and meters but garages will still charge:

  • July 4th – Independence Day
  • Indigenous People's Day (Columbus Day)
