Certain streets in Salem have been designated as Resident Permit Parking. To park on these streets, residents must purchase a permit from the City. Permits cost $5.00 and are valid for one (1) year. Additionally, in some locations and for certain residents, up to two (2) visitor passes can be purchased. The first visitor pass costs $10.00, a second pass costs $20.00 and are valid for one (1) year. The rules to qualify for resident permit parking vary based on your residential status. Residents that qualify for resident permit parking but do not own a car can still purchase visitor passes if their address qualifies for visitor passes. If paying in person at the parking office at 1 New Liberty St, fees can be paid by cash, credit card (Visa or MasterCard only), check, or money order made out to the City of Salem.

To check if your street and address qualify for resident permit parking, check this list: List of Qualifying Streets/Addresses.
