Payment for Legal Advertisements

Effective immediately, the Salem News requires pre-payment of fees to run legal advertisements. All Planning Board applications except Form A (Approval Not Required/ANR) require legal advertisements to run twice prior to the hearing. The Salem News requires a deposit of $540 (an estimate of $270 per ad per day) before they will print a legal ad. The actual cost will depend on the length of your ad. At the time you submit your application, you must also submit a signed form (found at the link below) agreeing to pay the difference if the ad costs more than $540, or to accept a partial refund from the newspaper if it costs less. A $540 check made payable to the Salem News is due upon submittal of your application, along with the signed agreement form, for all Planning Board applications except Form A applications (which do not require newspaper advertisements).
