Canal Street Existing Conditions: This 1.25 mile long urban arterial is one of the major gateway routes in and out of the City. The roadway is urban with sections of commercial, industrial and residential neighborhoods. Many of the businesses have wide and poorly defined curb cuts. The road pavement is in poor condition with areas of severe cracking and settlement. Drainage issues are present in several locations. Pedestrian activity along the corridor is heavy and adequate pedestrian ramps and access for disabled people are not really available in many locations.
