Buckley Square

Private John J. Buckley served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on October 31st, 1887 in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania. Prior to serving, he lived on 86 Flint Street and worked as a clerk. Private Buckley initially entered the service on July 23rd, 1918 and assigned to 151st Depot Brigade. He was later transferred to Company B, 73rd Infantry, 12th Division.

Tragically, he died of disease on September 28th, 1918. He was a brother to James of Philadelphia. His square is located at the corner of Bridge and North Streets, dedicated in his honor.
