Seaman 2nd Class Ulric J. T. Charette served in the US Navy during World War I. He was born on October 25th, 1899. Seaman 2nd Class Charette initially enlisted on November 21st, 1917 to Naval Training Station, Newport, Rhode Island. He later transferred on January 14th, 1918 to the USS Ticonderoga.

Tragically, he was killed in action when the USS Ticonderoga sunk by an enemy torpedo on September 30th, 1918. His remains were never recovered, but the Tablet of the Missing in Suresnes, France adorns his name. He was the son of Thomas and Octile Charette and the brother of Joseph and Alvenia.

His square is located at the corner of Salem and Leavitt Streets, dedicated in his honor.
