Lehan Square

Private Arthur J. Lehan, a native of 50 Webb Street, served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on November 13th, 1896 in Salem. Prior to his military service, he worked as a clerk. Private Lehan initially enlisted on August 3, 1918 to Wentworth Institute’s Student Army Training Corps.

Tragically, he died on September 30th, 1918 of disease. He was the son of Patrick and Mary (Quinn) Lehan and brother to Harold.

His square is located at the corner of Emerton and Forrester Streets, dedicated in his honor.
