Lynch Square

Private Patrick Lynch, a former resident of Wagner Street, served in the US Army during World War I. He was born in December of 1890 in Killarglin, County Kerry, Ireland and worked as a leather worker prior to serving. Private Lynch initially enlisted on May 30th, 1918 to the 25th Recruit Company, General Service Infantry of Fort Slocum, New York. He was later transferred on June 3rd, 1918 to Battery B, 13th Battalion of Camp Jackson, South Carolina and again on July 8th, 1918 to 8th Company, Provisional Replacement Battalion, 3rd Army Corps. He arrived in the theatre of war on July 21st, 1918.

Tragically, he passed from disease in France on September 24th, 1918. He was the son of Daniel and Bridgett (Moriarty) Lynch and brother to Daniel, Denis, John, Jerry, Cornelius, James, and Deborah.

His square is located at the corner of Congress and Lynch Streets, dedicated in his honor.
