Trask Square

SignPrivate George C. Trask served in the US Army during World War I. He was born on December 30th, 1900 in Beverly. Prior to his military service, he worked as a clerk. Private Trask initially enlisted on April 4th, 1918 to 32nd Company, Boston Coastal Artillery Company. He was later transferred on May 21st, 1918 to Headquarters Company, 71st Artillery, Coastal Artillery Company. He arrived overseas on July 31st, 1918.

Tragically, he died of disease in Angers, France on October 4th, 1918. He was the son of George and Mae Russell (Brooks) Trask of Salem and brother to Forrest Raymond (served in Navy), Gertrude, and Dexter.

His square is located at the intersection of Chestnut, Norman and Summer Streets, dedicated in his honor.
