Why is the flag at Salem City Hall at half-staff?

In honor of the life and legacy of Corporal Manuel John Pimentel, U.S. Marine Corps, Company A, 1st Battalion, 7th Marine Regiment, 1st Marine Division, (KIA, Lunga Area of Guadalcanal, Solomon Islands, September 24th, 1942) of Medford, Massachusetts, Governor Maura Healy has ordered that the United States of America Flag and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts flag be lowered to half-staff at all state buildings, from sunrise to sunset, beginning on Monday, April 29, 2024, until sunset on the same day.  Remains of Corporal Manuel John Pimentel, who was killed during the Guadalcanal campaign WWII, were laid to rest at the Cambridge Cemetery, in Cambridge, Massachusetts on this day
