Salem Housing Forum
Learn about housing needs in Salem and guide a new affordable housing policy for the City
Join the City of Salem and the Metropolitan Area Planning Council (MAPC) for a free public housing forum on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. in the Community Life Center located at 401 Bridge St. in Salem.
Participants will learn about the need for housing in Salem and how housing supply impacts prices and rents, strategies that can help create more affordable housing, and information about inclusionary zoning, a tool municipalities can utilize to encourage the creation of affordable units. The event starts with welcoming remarks from Mayor Kim Driscoll and an open house where guests can view posters and learn more about housing policy. After the poster session there will be a brief presentation, followed by small group meetings to discuss specific aspects of inclusionary zoning and how it might apply to Salem.

Aprenda sobre la necesidad para vivienda en Salem y cómo guiar una política nueva municipal hacia vivienda asequible
Únase al Municipio de Salem, y el Consejo de Planificación del área Metropolitana (MAPC) para un foro público gratuito el martes, 5 de marzo del 2019, desde las 7pm hasta las 8:30pm en el Centro de Vida Comunitaria (Community Life Center) ubicado en el 401 de la Calle Bridge en Salem (401 Bridge Street).
Los participantes aprenderán sobre: (a) la necesidad para vivienda en Salem, y cómo la oferta de vivienda afecta los precios y las rentas; (b) estrategias que podrán ayudar a crear más viviendas asequibles; e (c) información sobre zonificación inclusiva lo cual es una herramienta municipal para crear viviendas asequibles. El evento comenzará con una bienvenida de la alcaldesa Kim Driscoll y una casa abierta donde invitados podrán ver carteles y aprender más sobre la política de vivienda. Después habrá una presentación breve seguido por pequeños grupos de conversación para evaluar aspectos específicos de zonificación inclusiva, y cómo se podría aplicar a Salem.
