Salem, Massachusetts (March 30, 2023) – The City of Salem is excited to announce a new opportunity for a dedicated programming manager for Charlotte Forten Park. The programming manager will oversee activities at the park through most of the year.

Charlotte Forten Park is located at 289 Derby Street and links downtown to the South River and Harborwalk. The park is dedicated to Charlotte Forten, an abolitionist, women’s rights activist, and Salem State University’s first African American graduate.

The park has hosted a variety of successful community events including movie screenings, theatrical and dance performances, yoga classes, and vendor markets. Festivals, such as the annual Salem Arts Fest and Haunted Happenings, have used the park as a venue for some of their programming. The City wants to grow the programming so that residents of all ages, races, ethnicities, and backgrounds can enjoy the park throughout the year.

For all of the details about the park and this request, please download the Request for Proposals from the City’s procurement page (www.salemma.gov/bids).
