North Shore Municipalities Publish First Diversity Catalog

Salem, Beverly, Peabody, Lynn, Swampscott, and Marblehead directory includes 138 MWBE businesses on the North Shore
catalog

The Cities of Salem, Beverly, Peabody, and Lynn and the Towns of Swampscott and Marblehead have published the first North Shore Diversity Catalog, a regional vendor registry for minority- and women-owned businesses (MWBE). The communities partnered in March to announce the creation of the Catalog, to improve equity and diversity in municipal contracts and bids and also provide residents and other businesses with a single, comprehensive catalog of such businesses that they can support.

“I am very excited that our first Diversity Catalog is now available,” said Salem Mayor Kim Driscoll. “This directory will not only be an important tool as municipalities seek to diversify their procurement efforts, but it is also both a marketing tool for our local businesses and a resource for those who wish to support our diverse small business community. I look forward to working with our partner communities on growing this initiative in the years to come.”

“As we all emerge from this pandemic, let’s make sure we show our support for businesses in our region that are owned by women, minorities, immigrants, LGBTQ people, veterans, and those with disabilities. Let’s all commit to building a brighter future fueled by our passion for inclusivity and equity. Please find a way to support one or more of these businesses a month and see the power of how our hearts, wallets, and purse strings can drive positive change!” said Sean Fitzgerald, Swampscott’s Town Administrator.

“It is great news that nearly 140 Minority and Women Owned Businesses (MWBE) from across the North Shore submitted their information to join this diversity catalog,” said Lynn Mayor Thomas M. McGee. “This catalog will be incredibly useful resource for the City of Lynn, other North Shore communities and our residents to support our local MWBE businesses. I hope more members of our diverse business community will take advantage of this opportunity to add their business names to the catalog.”

The North Shore Diversity Catalog is an outgrowth of the work of the City of Salem’s Race Equity Task Force and the City of Beverly’s diversity in public contracts efforts.
