Salem Seeks Community Members for CBA Working Group

Mayor Dominick Pangallo is seeking interested applicants to fill vacancies on the new Community Benefits Agreement (CBA) Working Group called for by the City’s CBA with Crowley for the forthcoming offshore wind terminal. The Working Group is comprised of seven individuals, including two community members who will be selected through this call for applicants.

The Working Group is generally responsible for providing oversight for implementation of the CBA, which provides financial and non-financial benefits to the community in areas such as economic and workforce development, municipal services, sustainability and resilience, and education.

“I encourage residents who are representative of organizations or constituencies who may be impacted by this project to consider applying for one of these two positions,” said Mayor Pangallo. “Community voice and insights have been critical to the progress of the port project thus far and we want to ensure that the Working Group will be a continuation of that.”

Responsibilities of the Working Group members include:

• Meet with other members of the working group for regular meetings (up to quarterly).
• Meet at the call of the Mayor to discuss CBA related matters.
• Review annual reports to ensure compliance with the CBA.
• Collaborate with Working Group members to provide feedback on annual reports.

Those interested in being considered for appointment to the Working Group should submit a resume and cover letter to mayor@salem.com no later than noon on Friday, April 26, 2024. In your cover letter please specify how you represent a relevant constituency and any expertise you will bring to the Working Group. Appointments will be announced in May of 2024.
