Staff Sergeant Stephen Rizzotti Jr., a native of 26 High Street, served in the US Army during World War II. He was born on April 29th, 1918 in Salem. Staff Sergeant Rizzotti initially enlisted on March 16th, 1941 in Boston. He later served with Company H, 101st Infantry, 26th Division.
He was wounded in Germany and tragically died from his wounds on January 10th, 1945 in England. His parents were Grace and Stephan Rizzotti. His square was approved in his honor by the City Council on May 8th, 2002, and is located at the corner of Summer and High Streets.
